Plastique as the key to a role
17th November at 12 PM
Workshop is conducted by choreographer, the RGISI (The Russian State Institute of Performing Arts) coach Anna Belitch
The third year students of professor A.V. Tolshin acting classes (the RGISI) are to take part.
The workshop is conducted on the basis of the Decroux technique, created by a prominent French teacher and director. The “solfeggio” of plastique, the thinking body, the reverse metaphor principle… This all is about the Decroux technique, innovative and accurate method of the legendary reformer of the European theatre, who came to the idea of the primordiality of the “body language” at the stage. Etienne Decroux had influenced the shaping of the creative vision of the famous directors and choreographers, who defined the development of the world theatre in the second half of XX century. Among them Giorgio Strehler, Jerzy Grotowski, Peter Brook, Dario Fo, Maurice Bejart, and also Ariane Mnouchkine, who since 1964 has been heading Parisian Le Théâtre du Soleil. From the methodical arsenal of this theatre start many of the exercises of the upcoming workshop.
Anna Belitch – a choreographer, the RGISI lecturer, international theatrical festivals winner. Anna has cooperated with the leading Russian theatres such as Mariinsky, Alexandrinsky, the “Baltic House” theatre, interned for Ariane Mnouchkine in Le Théâtre du Soleil, studied the Decroux technique in Parisien Ecole de Mime Corporel Dramatique, studied from Corinne Soum and Steven Wasson, Etienne Decroux’s assistants and apprentices.
